A Blue & Green Christmas: Decorating Our Home for the Holidays
For our first Christmas in our home, we've been soaking up all the firsts with our girl! Honestly, we could have hung one string of lights and she would still be in awe of the magic of the season 🥰
With that said, it has been SO fun decorating without the constraint of storage and mini NYC spaces (step inside our old Gramercy apartment here!) We've invested in our favorite faux boxwood wreaths 🍃, which I love because unlike preserved boxwood these can withstand years of outdoor use, and the most beautiful boxwood and fir garlands that are lush and full but also UV rated so they can go indoors or out!
And since this year is all about making the most of what you have, we're here to share our effortless & cost-effective holiday decorating tips.
Kraft paper is a great affordable alternative to wrapping paper and can easily be dressed up or elevated with odds and ends from around your house -- ribbon, twine, greenery, berries, etc!
For our kraft paper presents we opted for a beautiful satin ribbon in a signature french blue of course!
A festive throw or Turkish towel can easily double as a super chic tree skirt. Since we were working with a blue & green color palette, we opted for our Olive Buffalo Check Throw which we loosely wrapped around the base of the tree. We love having these throws on hand at our house as they are extremely soft and also multi-functional!
And since our porch has doubled as a second living area, we brought our tree outside instead of splurging on extra holiday decor! It's the perfect spot as we can enjoy the tree while cozying up to the fire outside and we can still see her shine at night from our living room windows.
Our Nantucket Furniture Collection is truly a gift that keeps giving. We've been making the most of the warm NC weather and still find ourselves ending our nights on our porch and enjoying slow moments at home on weekend mornings. To transition with the seasons, we chose our performance gingham emerald fabric for our fall and winter decor as the emerald green was a perfect base for lots of festive layering -- mums & Christmas trees included!
Wishing you a happy holiday season!
