The Real Society Socials No.7 {Liz and Jonathan Martin}
Just a short bike ride away from the famed King Street filled with the best of Charleston's shops, art galleries and antiques, surrounded by beautiful historic homes, and amidst lanes lined with venerable oaks draped in weepy Spanish moss, Liz and Jonathan have created a sweet Southern respite. The couple who returned to their southern roots from bustling DC craved a slower pace from the rushed chaos that often comes with living in a busy metropolis. With a stocked bar cart at the ready for the friends they often host, a cozy covered porch complete with lounge-y adirondack chairs and nostalgic record player, and a renovated kitchen that opens up into an inviting, light-filled living room, their home is truly a reflection of the work to live versus live to work mentality that the two have embraced. Meet Jonathan and Liz Martin, and of course their sweet pup, Maddie!
The shoot took place on a Monday afternoon, but the beginning of the work week didn't stop the two from serving up champagne, spiked sweet tea, and delicious, characteristically southern to our delight, spread of Liz's mother's signature deviled eggs and a new favorite of mine- Benne wafers with pimento cheese. Yum!

Liz, Jonathan, and I actually first met in college. It was such a nice surprise to reconnect after several years and I was so flattered when they chose to include Society Social in their home! Here they utilize the Madison Mixer bar cart as an end table to their Quinn sofa.

Their record player set up, which is conveniently at arm's length from the adirondack seating area, is complete with golden oldies and feel good hits.Â
