Meet the NC Artisans Behind the Society Social Flagship!
We knew our forthcoming flagship store had to be larger than life and for dramatic purposes, we told our designer we wanted this to be an experience - our brand on acid. With our design vision planned out, our next step was to find local partners who were willing to take on a challenge and execute our over the top vision. From hand-painted gingham floors to a 20 ft pagoda, we’re proud to spotlight the talented NC artisans that helped bring our flagship to life! Be sure to visit our store next weekend to see their beautiful work in person.

Little did we know that the eye-catching gingham floors designed as a "gram-able moment" for Society Social Charlotte would also become an integral part of our brand identity. Quickly realizing that this was a task for a true professional, we looked no further than Studio Cultivate, founded by Kathryn Godwin. In addition to winning the patience award, as construction deadlines evolved, Kathryn's attention to detail and skilled eye put us at ease as she took on the project of painting our now, signature pink & white gingham floors. Kathryn's vibrant personality and enthusiasm for our brand was contagious, much like the impressive portfolio of projects and clients she has taken on since founding her company and planting roots in the Charlotte area. Specializing in store display and art installation across many mediums, it is no surprise that Kathryn has been featured as one of the top female artists "Leaving their Mark," by Charlotte Home Design & Decor. We feel so grateful to have her permanent mark on our space.

In true small town fashion, Jenny Lilly of Grace by Design was recommended to our team through word of mouth. Jenny is a true interior artisan specializing in window fashions and soft home furnishings. With drapery workrooms and custom window detailing being a trade that is increasingly more challenging to find, we were thrilled to connect with Jenny. Our dramatic vision for 10' floor-to-ceiling draperies with custom scalloped cornices was one that we knew would require impeccable attention to detail and a skilled, creative mind. Jenny was up to the challenge! Fashioned in our signature French Blue color of Brunschwig & Fils pattern, Les Touches, Jenny executed our vision to create the striking statement we envisioned!

Our first impression upon meeting John Alden, founder of Carolina Building Services, was, "this man loves a challenge!" After reviewing our initial sketches showcasing floor-to-ceiling mill work, an eye-catching cash wrap, and most importantly, a custom-built pagoda, John responded that he was inspired by projects of grand scale. In that moment, we knew he was our guy. Having worked with all types of clients on projects of various scale, we were excited to be a partner that John would enjoy adding to his portfolio. Knowing that we wanted our space to be reflective of modern, experimental retail, our goal was to create a focal point in the store for hosting events, workshops, and social gatherings. Carolina Building Services was able to bring this concept to life in our flagship and we can't wait to invite our customers to party with us at our pagoda!

Foxwood Studio, recently re-branded as Other Love, has been a Society Social partner since 2018. Through her knowledge of our brand and willingness to be immersed in our culture, Hannah Lee, owner and creative director, has quickly become an honorary member of our team. Hannah has helped from beginning to end with the redesign and launch of our new website to the personalization of many little brand touches that will be found in our CLT flagship, she just "gets us" -- a blessing we count daily!. Based in Durham, NC, Hannah has continued to grow and expand her business all without skipping a beat. She's always willing to jump in and help tackle any project. We're so lucky to have her!

Just east of our state's capital, Mark Shearon, owner of DMS Neon, call's Wendell, NC home. Having been in business since 1993, Mark's portfolio consists of art for clients from AT&T and Chevrolet to the Reagan Library and the Moxy Hotel in NYC. After taking a glance at his capabilities, we quickly realized that Mark's talent can span to any design and that the options of what he could create were limitless. After much deliberation, we decided to move forward and have him execute our logo in his signature style and we couldn't be more pleased! Although we were not the most artistically challenging of his clients, Mark, put his own twist on our logo that truly makes it special.

In the spirit of our modern world, it is no surprise that one of our partners we stumbled upon through social media! After discovering Alpha Awning through Pinterest, we were excited to hear they were located in the Charlotte area and had a massive portfolio that consisted of many of our Charlotte favorites, from Amelie's to Cabo Fish Taco! We believe that first impressions are everything and just like all aspects of our store, we wanted our awning to reflect our brand and make a statement. Although our entrance doesn't technically lead to the outside of the building, we wanted our customers to feel as if they were entering into a world of retail unlike any other and ready to experience an environment full of color and grandeur.
