3 Tablescape Essentials to Bring You Good Luck in the New Year

Regardless of the holiday or special occasion, when it comes to setting a tablescape, selecting a color palette is a great place to start. For our Chinese New Year celebration, we turned to red, the iconic color of this 15 day holiday celebration which symbolizes good fortune, prosperity, and vitality.

Another common practice during Chinese New Year is the giving of money in red envelopes. This tradition is meant to send you into the new year feeling prosperous and protected.

What a joy it was to set the table and celebrate the Lunar New Year with our girl who we hope will celebrate her heritage with pride and happiness! 2022 is the Year of the Tiger. We set the table with our favorite red rice paper placemats, dinnerware, and a mix of faux and real florals. For added ambiance, we hung decorative Chinese lanterns overhead.

Oranges, kumquats, and tangerines are common staples found on CNY tablescapes as they're believed to bring good fortune. Why? The Chinese words for these fruits closely resemble words for luck and success.
